I can honestly say I never thought I’d write a post inspired by Whitney Houston, but her death is connected to an issue of interest to me, namely the ineffective and unconstitutional “war on drugs” and how the conversation about the topic seems to always miss the boat. Houston’s death was a sad event, but […]

The Antisocial Myth
[This post was originally published on my old blog site, underworldgoddess.com. I hope you find it well here. The published date here reflects the original publication date]. In an interesting article I read today at ScientificAmerican.com, Susan Cain, promoting her new book “The Power of Introverts: A Manifesto for Quiet Brilliance”, responds to questions about introversion. I’m […]
Killing the Procrastination Bug!
[This post was originally published on my old blog site, underworldgoddess.com. I hope you find it well here. The published date here reflects the original publication date]. [This post was originally published on my old blog site, underworldgoddess.com. I hope you find it well here. The published date here reflects the original publication date]. I had hoped to get a few more posts under my belt before diving into this particular subject, but the calendar stops for no one, so I must […]

[This post was originally published on my old blog site, underworldgoddess.com. I hope you find it well here. The published date here reflects the original publication date]. So, I know we just met, and this might weed out anyone who bothered to give my first post a chance, but I can’t help it. I created […]
Introducing PersephoneK, Thankfulness, and Nothing At All
[This post was originally published on my old blog site, underworldgoddess.com. I hope you find it well here. The published date here reflects the original publication date]. What better way to start a blog than to post my first entry the day before Thanksgiving? I’ll try not to be too tedious and list all of […]
The Trouble with Blogging
[This post was originally published on 9/25/2011 on a blog I no longer update, and have merged here]. One paradox with writing a blog accessible to the world is that carving one’s ideas in virtual stone is both a way to live forever in a moment in time, and well… it’s a way to live […]
Remembering and Reflecting, Ten Years After September 11, 2001
[This post was originally published on 9/11/2011 on a blog I no longer update, and have merged here]. September 11, 2011 changed me forever. Changed my life, too, but mostly it changed me. I often feel I have no right to speak of it, mourn it, internalize it, to be so profoundly impacted by it. I lost […]

Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell
Economics is one of the most critically misunderstood disciplines in a democracy. Your ignorance is peril for us all. Sowell explains complex topics very simply.
The Tyranny of Silence by Fleming Rose
If you care about Free Speech at all, this is an important read written from the perspective of someone at the center of a modern battle to uphold one of the most important principals of classical liberalism.
The Better Angels of Our Nature by Steven Pinker
If you can only pick one book to read all year, pick this one. I rank it as one of the top 5 books all humans should read. It will be time consuming as its long and dense, but its also easy to read, and filled with gobs of nuanced facts and analysis to show how the world is better today than at any other time in history. Life is good, and Pinker has the proof.
